FAQ

Answers to some frequently asked questions:

What sizes are your prints?
We work to various sizes, although where possible we try to keeps things to 3 standard frame sizes (30x40cm / 40x50cm / 50x70cm). The sizes listed are the final paper size, the image will usually be a few centimetres smaller. This allows all smaller sized prints to be immediately popped into a frame you can pick up in Ikea/Habitat without any more hassle. However, we would always recommend getting prints framed by a local framer (see below).

How is the work produced/printed?
We use a professional dedicated fine art print partner who prints for us through Digital Ctypes or Glicee onto fine art archival papers.

What is the checkout process?
After adding the image(s) you want to your basket, click on the green 'checkout' tab at the top and you will be directed to our checkout system, where you will enter your contact details, billing/shipping address. Clicking 'complete my purchase' will direct you to the internationally recognised secure PayPal payment system where you will enter your final payment details.

If you wish to review or modify the items in your basket before checking out, simply click the grey 'View your basket' tab, which can be found top right, to the left of the green checkout tab.

How do I pay? Can I pay by credit card?
We use the internationally recognised secure PayPal payment system. This allows you to pay by credit/debit card and accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Solo, Maestro, Visa Electron and Delta. Or if you have a PayPal account you can quickly login and pay using that. Unfortunately we do not accept payment by cheque or bank transfer.

What type of paper do you print on?
We usually print on two types of paper:

  • Fuji Crystal Archive for CType prints (photographic paper with a semi-matt finish)
  • Hahnemuhle PhotoRag for Glicee prints (a gorgeous heavy art paper, with a fibrous finish)
These are archival quality prints with a life expectancy of 80 years in darkness (200 for Glicee) and 40 years in direct sunlight.

On some occasions we may use a different paper to compliment the style of the work.

Do you offer framing?
We don't offer framing because of the cost, complexity and environmental impact of shipping framed works. We try to keep our work to standard sizes, to ensure basic frames that fit the work are available from retail outlets such as Ikea/Habitat. If possible, we would always recommend using a dedicated local framer. The cost of a dedicated framer isn't always a lot more and the quality is superior, plus it will last a lifetime and enhance the piece of work. We recommend professional framing for all our large prints but it will benefit even small prints because it allows you to match the framing to the piece of work and the environment in which it is to be hung.

Frames from Habitat range from £18 for a 30x40cm, £25 for a 40x50cm and £30 for 50x70cm. A framer may charge from £30 for a 30x40cm, £50 for a 40x50cm and £70 for 50x70cm, but will include mounting, sealing and hanging systems.

If you have a specific requirement for professional framing, we are happy to discuss framing options with you. If you live in the West Midlands or London we can also suggest some suppliers.

What is your delivery charge?
We like to keep things simple at Yoyophoto, so we offer a standard delivery charge. For prints to be shipped to the UK this is £5, for those shipped internationally it is £12.50. No matter how many prints are within a given order the delivery cost remains the same.

Do you charge VAT? Is VAT included in the price?
We are not VAT registered so you will not be charged VAT. The only charge on top of the print price is the delivery cost.

What is your returns policy? What if my print is damaged or not received?
Details of our returns policy can be found here

Why do the colours of my print vary slightly to the website?
Although we use calibrated systems to match our photos to our prints there are times when the colours on computer screens appear slightly different to the final printed image. Different computers screens, smart phones and laptops show colours differently and we can't guarantee what you see will match the final print you get.

Who are your photographers?
Yoyophoto currently stocks work from the award winning photographer George Benson and image-maker Sam Underwood. We plan to commission more photographers in due course. If you would like your work considered, please email us and we will keep your details on file.
